A Continentally-Rooted, African-Led Fellowship Programme

The EduLens Africa Fellowship Programme is a pioneering initiative designed to cultivate the next generation of African education research leaders. This comprehensive programme delivers tailored training, mentoring, and bespoke professional development to Early Career Researchers (ECRs), all underpinned by a deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and long-term impact on the continent’s education landscape.

Strengthening Africa’s Education Research Ecosystem

Our programme directly addresses persistent gaps in essential skills development, robust mentoring, and effective knowledge dissemination often faced by ECRs in Africa. By investing deeply in individual researchers, fostering institutional leadership, and championing South-South collaboration, the EduLens Africa Fellowship contributes to the systemic strengthening and growth of the entire African education research ecosystem.

Core Components of the EduLens Africa Fellowship

Strengthening the Foundation of African Research Excellence

Many ECRs in Africa face significant hurdles in navigating academic publishing and securing research grants. Our focused program directly addresses these challenges, providing the tailored support needed to bridge skill gaps and enhance visibility. By investing in these core competencies, we contribute directly to the individual success of researchers and the overall strengthening of Africa’s education research landscape.

Core Pillars of Our Fellowship Support

Currently, the EduLens Africa Fellowship delivers focused training and support across three high-impact areas, complemented by dedicated mentorship:

Academic Writing & Journal Publishing

Intensive training in crafting high-quality academic manuscripts, understanding journal selection strategies, mastering the peer review process, and navigating submission to publication.
Fellows will gain the skills to refine their research into publishable papers, increasing their success rate in scholarly journals.

Research & Grant Proposal Writing

Practical guidance on designing compelling research proposals and developing successful grant applications to secure funding for their projects.
Fellows will be equipped to write competitive proposals that attract the resources needed to sustain and expand their research endeavours.

Dedicated Mentorship

Fellows are matched with experienced senior academics (local and diaspora) who provide personalised guidance and constructive feedback throughout their writing and proposal development journey.
Enhanced learning, practical application, and strategic career advice tailored to individual needs.
